In support of the cartoonist, the great Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter (DN) devotes part of its business to one with a portrait of Lars Vilks, then a second editorial page and an account of events inside pages with in the support reproduction of the drawing in question.
The Daily Nerikes Allehanda of Örebro County, west of Stockholm, had published a satirical drawing by Lars Vilks August 18, 2007, to illustrate an editorial on the importance of freedom of expression, triggering a controversy in Sweden and abroad.
A group linked to al-Qaeda had offered $ 100,000 to kill the cartoonist and yesterday, the Irish police announced the arrest of seven Muslims suspected of involvement in a plot to assassinate him.
