Very hard luck I might add considering its the top team in Egypt against the worst team in Algeria. CABBA had no business advancing but they played their hearts out. Ismaily are definitely the better team but they didnt play like it.

regardless, i think ismaily should've done better - they are earning a reputation for disappearing at the big games as they already lost to zamalek on their home field so I am skeptical of ismaily's performance lately...the loss in the arab champions league doesnt help their cause whatsoever

although I think Ismaily could have done better with a chance to rest a regroup (apparently it looks like a certain Mr Rizk from the club admin has signed off on playing the Suez Cement game earlier)- but the main issue for me is that the team have issues executing the crucial bit in the box, whether it's the final pass or the actual shot on goal, it was very evident in the Suez Cement game despite placing 5 CFs near the end of the game.

That is probably why the club/team management are scraping for a good finisher in the next transfer window.

I wanted ismaily to go though to the next round together with the other teams, obviously as an Egyptian wanting an Egyptian team to win but also as an ahlawy (selfish) since playing in more than just the league is a distraction that one less title contender will not have to suffer... same! but really hard-luck

As AK points out, this result is significant that a team that is 2nd in the Egyptian league is eliminated by a team in the bottom of the Algerian league. This is a clear warnig sign of how uncompetitive the Egyptian league has become: This season (like the previous few) is a one team race.

I dont think you can judge the strength of the league based on one head-to-head result. I think it has to do more with the current form of the teams and, more importantly, how bad each one of them wanted it. In the first leg, CABBA had tons of chances to score and Ismaily had a few themselves but from that game they believed that they could steal the win in Egypt, and thats exactly what they did. The Egyptian league is still one of the best in Africa with Ahly, Zamalek, Ismaily and ENNPI always a threat at the international level.

So:

- they take 3 days to arrive back from an international game "next door"
- their officials accept the schedule of the game (as the papers reported today)
- they play a very bad game.

Then they blame it on the EFA, Ahly, the referee, and the exhaustion?

EFA started delaying games for Ahly when we reached the semis and final of the top competiiton in the region, not the 16th round of some mickey mouse tournament.

And oh, it took us 1 night to come back from Tunisia, but what were they doing for 3 days after the game.. in transit?

I thought they said exhaustion is 7eget el baleed (i.e. ahly) why are they using it now?

good luck for Ismaily in any next competition
